Criteria for Filmmaker Market Entry Funding Application

Emerging filmmakers may apply for funding  through our MAT 1926 Emerging Filmmakers Program. Applicants are vetted through a structured, research-informed review process.

Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, with a timeline of up to four (4) months.

Required Application Elements

Required Application Elements:

    1. Film Title
    2. Film Poster
    3. Genre
    4. One finalized or concept image suitable for marketing review.  
    5. Primary Locations (filming and narrative setting) 
    6. Audience Appeal: Describe the intended audience and why this story will resonate culturally, emotionally or socially (maximum 125 words)
    7. Uniqueness of the Film: What differentiates the story from others in the market? (maximum 25 words)
    8. Director Information: Describe why this director is uniquely suited to tell your story (maximum 75 words)
    9. Screenwriter Experience: Include relevant film, television, or narrative storytelling experience. (maximum 125 words)
    10. Principal Talent 
      •      Headshot required
      •      Role and actor description (maximum 25 words each)
    11. Budgetary Considerations: High-level overview of total budget range and funding needs (maximum 25 words)
    12. Film Treatment 
      •     Maximum one (1) page
      •     No more than 59 lines
      •     Clearly structured beginning , middle, and end.
    13. Character List: Brief description of all primary characters and their narrative roles.
    14. Completed Screenplay: Final shooting script in standard screenplay format (PDF).
    15. Applicant Contact Information: Full name. email address, phone number, city, state/country.

      Submission of an application does not guarantee funding. Selected filmmakers may be contacted for further review and due diligence.

Applicants must meet all the following criteria:
